Welcome
Welcome to the Home of Capt. Marty Moore and Top
Water Charters.
I am a Coast Guard licensed 100 gross ton Master and an
IGFA Certified Captain. I am
also a Coast Guard licensed 4000 HP Designated Duty
Engineer and currently work as a Chief Engineer with the
NC Ferry Division at the Cape Hatteras Operation. Our
work schedule is a week on-week off rotation that
typically allows me to fish well over 100 days per year!
Most of my trips start from the Beaufort Waterfront and
I fish the nearshore, inshore, and offshore waters from
east of Bogue Inlet to the rocks and wrecks east of Cape
Lookout. I have fished these waters extensively for over
30 years. In order to take advantage of great fishing
opportunities, I frequently tow my boat to other areas
on our coast. Some of these include Oregon Inlet,
Hatteras Inlet, Ocracoke Inlet, and Cedar Island. Since
I spend half my life on the Outer Banks, I spend a lot
of time surf fishing at Ocracoke and Hatteras Island. I
also do some surf fishing from Shackleford Banks and
Cape Lookout.
I
have a proven track record for producing outstanding
catches and I am very versatile. I like to target a
variety of fish and this area has a number of great
species availiable. I also love catch trophy sized fish.
Since 1988, I have been on a personal crusade to collect
a NC Fishing Citation for each species that our state
recognizes. In 2005 I landed my first Citation winning
Gray Trout and Sea Mullet, numbers 26 and 27. Only 7 to
go! All together, I have personally landed over 200 NC
Citation-sized fish over the last 18 years. I have also
landed all 5 Atlantic Billfish Species (including the
elusive Spearfish and prized Swordfish), I am a 2 time
member of the IGFA Inshore Grand Slam Club, I am a
member of the IGFA 10 Pound Bonefish Club and have been
on a winning King Mackerel Tournament team. I have
fished commercially with rod and reel for Red Snapper,
Grouper, King Mackerel and BluefinTuna. I have fished
the entire NC Coast from Little River Inlet to Corolla.
I have fished South Florida from Miami to the Dry
Tortugas. I have also fished the South Texas coast, all
the way to the Rio Grande.
I am currently fishing on a 23' Maycraft Center Console,
powered by a 225 HP Honda 4 Stroke. This boat is easy to
trailer, allowing me to be flexible in my pursuit of
good fishing. This boat is also very versatile. It
performs its job well, whether I find myself 30 miles
offshore, on the shoals at Cape Hatteras or Cape
Lookout, or in Pamlico Sound. I catch a wide variety of
fish from this boat, ranging from a 300+ pound Bluefin
Tunas to quarter pound Spots!
